Galen Gottschalk, age 85, of Ortonville, MN, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Fairway View Neighborhoods. In respecting Galen’s wishes, cremation will take place, and a private family ceremony will be held at a later date to honor his life and legacy. Galen Keith Gottschalk was born in McPherson, KS, on December 5, 1940, to Freddie and Elvira (Gillberg) Gottschalk. He was raised in Lindsborg, KS, and graduated from Lindsborg High School. In 1958, Galen enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1962. His time in the Navy took him to notable places, including San Diego, CA, Hawaii, and Japan.
