BSCB approves adopting interim Data Center Moratorium

The Big Stone County Board met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at the Big Stone County Courthouse in Ortonville. Commissioner Zimmel was absent from the meeting. Board members approved the meeting agenda and the minutes from their regular meeting on Aug. 4. They also authorized payment of bills. During committee reports, board members discussed information from recent meetings. Following committee reports, the Big Stone County Board received updates and addressed action items. Big Stone County Sheriff Mark Brown came before the board to discuss golf cart operation. He stated this follows a complaint about golf cart use around Toqua Lake in Graceville. At the same time, the City of Ortonville is looking to do some changes to their Ordinace concerning golf cart use and in getting to the respective golf courses. “Looking at it, the County does not have an Ordinance in place allowing operation of golf carts on county roads in Big Stone County,” said Sheriff Brown. “Whether you’re in Ortonville or Graceville, we shouldn’t have golf carts operating on county roads. Outside of city limits, if townships want to adopt a registration process, which is extremely basic, it can allow operation of golf carts in those townships as well.”
